For the seventh time and after a brief absence, Section Five Lacrosse leadership has selected first, second and honorable mention lists of All-Section players. The 2019 first team lists fifteen players and includes the six All-Americans previously announced."It`s always difficult to choose from so many talented players," said Section Five Chairman, Mike Simon.

# 2938  2019 All Tournament Teams

The All Tournament Teams for 2018 were announced at each final on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Most Valuable Player in Class A was Colin Peers (Fairport), in Class C, Sam Miller (Geneva), in Class D, Connor Fingar (Penn Yan) and in Class B, Jack LaRue (Victor). Players were selected on the basis of their performances in the Section Five Tournaments.

# 2927  Victor Wins their Sixth Straight Championship

Victor secured their sixth straight Section Five Title with two goals in the final sixty seconds.  The Braves had taken a two goals lead with less than six minutes remaining and held on to a one goal lead with 1:00 left on the clock.  The Blue Devils never gave up and defeated Canandaigua 7-6 in regulation.  The game was a defensive battle with both goalies coming up strong.  Canandaigua’s Aiden Kenyon finished with 9 saves (7 in the first half) and Victor’s Liam Haller finished with 14 saves (including 5 in the fourth quarter).  Both goalies were named to the All Tournament Team.

# 2917  Victor Heads to Finals for Seventh Straight Year

Second seeded Victor held off a late push by third seeded Brighton 10-9.  The Blue Devils took control early and held it for a huge chunk of the game.  They led by four goals with four minutes remaining in regulation.  Brighton scored four goals in last four minutes (with Victor adding one of their own) to pull within one goal two different times.  Victor advances to the Sectional Finals for the Seventh straight season.

# 2884  Brighton Wins in Overtime Again

Brighton fought back from a two goal deficit at the end of the third quarter to defeat Pittsford in overtime 10-9.  The Barons and Panthers played a back and forth game with both teams leading before Pittsford took a two goal lead at the end of the third quarter. Brighton’s defense held the Panthers scoreless for the final 13 minutes of regulation and another 3 minutes in overtime.

# 2828  Brighton Defeats CBA in 2OT

Saturday: DAY IN REVIEW: In the closest of games played today, Brighton's junior attackman Lukas Stanat scored the winning goal in the second overtime period. The first quarter was close with Christian Brothers Academy up 2-1, but the Barons responded before the half with four goals and took the halftime breat up 5-3. Five goals from the Brothers in the third quarter tied the game at 8-8 to start the last quarter. Both teams scored three in the final tweleve minutes. With around three minutes left in the game and Brighton up 11-8, the Brothers surged, tying the game with 0:11. Six different Barons made the offensive book led by Casey McDermott (2g-5a) and Stanat (3g-2a). Leading the Brothers were Colin Kelly (2g-3a), Preston Taylor (3g-1a) and Ryan Mackenzie (1g-3a). Brighton, now 4-1 will play Spencerport on Tuesday.

Thursday: DAY IN REVIEW: On a cold afternoon and evening fourteen games were played today. Churchville-Chili used a strong second quarter to secure the 11-10 win over Rush Henrietta. The Saints scored the game winning goal with only 0:11 remaining on the clock with an unassisted goal from Patrick Mitchell. (Story Continues.)

Brighton scored six unanswered goals in the third quarter to pull away from Spencerport.  The Barons won 18-11 after the Rangers scored the final two goals.  Brighton was led in scoring by Brady McDermott with 6g-3a.  The first goal of the game was scored only 0:25 into play with B. McDermott finding Shea McDonald open on the crease after a fast-break down the field.

THURSDAY: DAY IN REVIEW: Three of the fourteen games played today were one-goal games. Pittsford fended off a last minute barrage from Fairport, Brighton saw a goal from Lukas Stanat (5g) to break their tie with Hilton and Cullen Coons scored his third goal of the game in the first overtime period to give Livonia-Avon the 17-16 win over Marcus Whitman.

In a game were the score was closer than the contest, Victor defeated Brighton 13-9.  The Blue Devils had an 8 goal lead in the fourth quarter (13-5), before Brighton scored the final five goals.  The Barons kept the game close earlier, before Victor began to slowly pull away.  The Blue Devils held Brighton scoreless for 19 minutes spanning the entire third quarter.  Victor advances to the finals for the fifth consecutive time (three time defending Champion).

April 6, 2017 - Brighton took a four goal lead into the second half on their way to a 10-9 win over Hilton.  The Barons had six players make their offensive scorebook in the win with Brett Randall leading in scoring with 3g-3a.  Hilton was more spread out with ten players in their offensive book.
